James Madison

Summary

James Madison wrote the final drafts of the Constitution, along with co-writing the Federalist papers and and sponsored the Bill of Rights. He established the Democrat-Republican Party with Thomas Jefferson and he was elected president in 1808. Adams then served two terms in the white house, and he also initiated war in 1812.

Early Life

James Madison was born in 1751, where he grew up in Orange County, Virginia. In 1762, he was sent to a boarding school that was run by Donald Robertson in King and Queen County, Virginia. However five years later he returned to Orange County to receive private tutoring because his father was concerned for his health. Madison experienced a lot of ill health throughout the rest of his life. Finally he went to college in 1769, where he enrolled in the college of New Jersey. Madison learned Latin, Greek, science and philosophy among many other subjects.
